On the First National Day of Service, we combined forces with the First ward and went to work on Lang's Pony Farm. There were lots of different projects going on, so this post is pretty picture heavy!
The lovely ladies at the check in table...
It really was a beautiful day and a lovely place to be for the morning.
We ended with a yummy BBQ after our work was completed.
And here's a recap of the different projects that were done:
Relief Society
Our job was to make these huge piles of weeds! The men were cutting it all down and the women were collecting it into burn piles. Made for some rather big piles of weeds.
Machetes? Never thought I'd see those at a church activity!
Primary
The Primary kids had jobs to do too! They raked up leaves and even hauled them away in wheelbarrows.
Cleaning up after the horses....
There was even a celebrity appearance by Batman!
And picking up rocks on the horse trails.
Young Women
The Young Women also started out picking up stones on the horse paths.
Did some weeding around a horse corralAnd finished up with painting.
Young Men
The Young men were given the assignment of cleaning up the muck in the pond. They had canoes and kayaks and tried to scoop up the algae as best as they could. They weren't all that successful due to not having the right equipment, but they looked like they were enjoying the water toys!
The Elders and High Priests
They created a large flower bed area in the shape of an "L"
The entire pond area needed weeding, and the men did most of the weedeating and chopping. They also worked on the fences that run along the road.Kicking up tons of dust and making LOTS of noise.
And some of the Elders made these awesome picnic tables.
Many thanks to those who worked to put the day together!
